SENIOR psychiatrist Kurt Memmert is the new director of Hunter New England Health's child and adolescent mental health service.

NSW Health Minister John Hatzistergos said Dr Memmert had extensive experience in child and adolescent psychiatry and had worked in Australian health services and overseas.

Dr Memmert is a consultant psychiatrist specialising in child and adolescent care.

He will be responsible for the effective operation of the Hunter New England area's child and adolescent mental health service.
